When you search for things you use text.
You find pages with that text on them.
You want your site to be found.
So why create pages with no text?
The worst examples are all-Flash sites, but ones with image-based navigation and just a few words of text are nearly as bad.
You need textual content. The more the better.
Search engines don't read your mind. They read your words.
