Adding a subdomain
Using Caliban to supplement an existing website
WebImpetus is a great way to extend an existing website. Say that you want add lots of great content, so that you impress visitors and have information that gets found in searches. WebImpetus is the cheapest, quickest and most effective way to do it.

Here's what you do:

Create a subdomain
Your subdomain name will simply substitute the www. in your normal web address with something else, so that it becomes, say, pages.yourdomain.com. All you need to do is ask the ISP who manages your site to add a DNS entry as follows:

Hostname: pages (or whatever you choose)
Record type: CNAME (Alias)
Address: www.webimpetus.com

Enter your subdomain in WebImpetus
Now you need to go to your WebImpetus account. In the Modules menu, click on Preferences and change the field Domain Name to pages.yourdomain.com (the subdomain you have just set up).

Specifying a page in the Home Page field will send all requests that just say pages.yourdomain.com, with no page specified, to that page. You do not have to do it, but it is advisable.

That's it! All requests for pages.yourdomain.com will now be routed to the WebImpetus server and you WebImpetus pages are live on the web.
